Fractions at Snack Time

Some teachers might say, “Don’t play with your food.”

Other teachers might say, “Holy Cow – Look at that fraction!.”

One Whole Snack

This lovely arrangement of snack-alicious foods could be considered one whole: one whole snack, one whole Mickey Mouse, one set of bites.  How many pieces (or fair shares) make up this whole/set?

Can we find half of the snack?  How many pieces is half of eight?

Half of a whole snack

If the arms and legs (four pieces) are half of the snack, what fraction of the snack are the ears?  2/8 ?  Is there an equivalent fraction?

Quarter of a Whole Snack

Fractions really are everywhere.  You just need to turn your brain on.
